Sunnyside Upstairs: Interior Door Molding

I had saved a half gallon of Victorian Pewter semi-gloss paint leftover from painting our bathroom. I wanted to use up the paint, so I painted the mudroom interior door that medium gray color. Even though the gray was an interesting change, it looked like something was missing from the door.

I simplified the steps from Christopher Beidel's video for This Old House called, "How to Dress Up a Hollow-Core Door." I decided to use construction adhesive to glue the hard-to-nail bamboo quarter round trim I found at my local deconstruction warehouse. I am smitten with the new look!

Using reclaimed bamboo quarter round trim, it cost me $10 in new purchases to dress up one of the mudroom doors.

Painting the flat door gray was an improvement, but was not as flattering as this 4-panel trimmed out version, to me. I love how it pops against the new white trim and dark wainscoting accent wall. Next, look for how I removed the carpet and stenciled the cement floor to enhance this mini-mudroom with more pattern. :)
